8:00am - 5:00pm Advanced Otology Temporal Bone Course, Cochlear Implants and Implantable Hearing Devices Pre Satellite Meeting
Venue: Dean Southwood Temporal Bone Laboratory, Modbury Hospital

Outline and Objectives
This satellite meeting is a 2 day intensive temporal bone dissection course. Aspects of advanced otology will be addressed with particular emphasis on cochlear implants and implantable hearing devices. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to perform advanced otological procedures as demonstrated by an expert international faculty. The participants will then have the opportunity to practice these procedures on their own cadaver temporal bone under supervision. Current issues surrounding modern otology will be discussed. Although the course is geared towards participants wanting an advanced experience, registrars wishing to complete their prescribed temporal bone exercises will also be accommodated.

Learning Outcomes (required a minimum of 3 points for CPD application)
- current indications and cnadidacy for cochlear implantation
- current surgical techniques for cochlear implantation
- latest technology in implantable hearing devices
- surgical techniques for these implantable hearing devices
- update on advanced otological surgery including skullbase approaches

Special Requirements
- transport between course venue and conference venue will be provided

Maximum Number of Participants
- 28 dissectors and observers

Venue: Art Gallery of South Australia, North Terrace, Adelaide

Outline and Objectives
Run under the auspices of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS), this is a two day mini-symposium, focusing on all aspects of aesthetic/functional rhinoplasty. Although many basic topics will be covered, the meeting is intended to crystallize more advanced concepts for the rhinoplasty surgeon. These range from open-structure septoplasty, through nasal tip/nasal valve surgery and total nasal reconstruction. The first half day will also cover supportive facial plastic techniques such as Facial fillers, botox and laser as well as chin implants. Numbers are strictly limited, providing all delegates intimate interaction/discussion opportunity with the faculty. Several panel sessions will be available, including those where delegate cases can be discussed with the experts.

8:00am - 5:30pm Trans Oral Robotic Surgery - A Global Trend in Head & Neck Surgery
Venue: Royal Adelaide Hospital

This course will introduce the application of robotic surgical techniques, and consider methods in transoral robotic surgery for the management of head and neck disease. Participants will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of robotic surgery as well as interactive discussion of these methods and benefits to patients, for selected benign and malignant lesions, with the expert panel.

Educational Goals
The goals and objectives of this course aqre to introduce and review:
- the application of robotic surgical techniques, and
- indications and concepts related to transoral robotic surgery in head and neck disease.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- apply/demonstrate robotic surgery in the management of head and neck tumours
- describe the role of minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of tonsil, tongue and laryngeal cancer
- assess the value of minimally invasive surgery in the management of patient with head and neck tumours
- identify treatment options for the treatment of head and neck disease
- integrate new multidisciplinary knowledge with healthcare providers to optimise the medical, surgical and rehabilitation of head and neck disease
- evaluate the application of laser technology for robotic and neck surgery.
