Dr. Genden is an Professor of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery and Immunobiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Genden is one of the pioneers of trans oral robotic surgery and trans oral robotic reconstruction of the head and neck. He has published a variety of sentinel articles on robotic reconstruction, functional outcomes following robotic surgery, and the use of lasers in robotic surgery. He recently participated on the steering committee for the United States National Cancer Institute's Trans Oral Surgical Trial for the management of oropharyngeal cancer. This represents the first head and neck surgical trial in the history of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Genden has expanded the application of the robot by demonstrating its applicability for trans oral pedicled and free flap reconstruction. More recently, his group has demonstrated the role of robotic surgery for high risk disease. |

He joined the department in 2005 after completing a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Dr White is a native of Charleston, SC and graduated from Davidson College in 1994. He then received his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of North Carolina.
Dr White's practice focuses entirely on the care of children with ear, nose and throat problems. He has authored over 50 articles and chapters in medical journals and textbooks and has won several research awards at national otolaryngology meetings. While he practices the entire breadth of pediatric otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, Dr White has particular expertise in the treatment of children with ear/hearing problems, speech and swallowing disorders and airway problems. He is a member of the Airway and Aspiration Center for Children, Craniofacial Anomalies and Cleft Palate Center, the Velopharyngeal Insufficiency and Speech Team and the Cochlear Imnplant Center at the Medical University of South Carolina. |
Dr Ray Weiss
Dr Weiss is Board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, is a Fellow of the Americian Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and a member of the American Rhinology Society
 |
Dr Weiss is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. He completed his otolaryngology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. He then completed a 2 year Head and Neck Fellowship, training under Dr Byron Bailey. Following this, Dr Weiss joined the faculty at UTMB and then went on to serve as the Chief of Otolaryngology at Keesler Air Force Base. The primary focus of his practice is to reach and help patients suffering from sinus and nasal problems. His clincial research interests include minimally invasive endoscopic sinus surgery, advanced image guidance sinus surgery and nuances of sinus outflow tracts. He has been intrigued with the potential of improved outcomes utilising computer algorithms, as well as how advanced digital capture and display can expand patient and physical education.
Dr Weiss was intimately involved in the CLEAR study - the initial clinical study evaluating balloon sinuplasty and has completed several hundred ESS cases utilising balloon sinuplasty devices. In 2005, he founded the original Sinuplasty Center of Excellence and remains the medical director. |
Professor Barbara Wollenberg
Chair and Director, Clinic for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery, University of Lübeck
