OHNNG 2012 - "Innovative Practice"

Dear Colleagues

Welcome to the 16th National Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Nurses Meeting. It is my pleasure to be hosting this Meeting alongside our surgical colleagues who are attending the 62nd Scientific Meeting.

As our Meetings travel around our country it allows us all, a great opportunity to meet with fellow nurses and clinicians that are involved with our unique specialty.

This year we have chosen to “theme” our Meeting. The theme is “Innovative Practice”. The past decade has seen many changes to our amazing specialty, new role’s, new procedures, new technology, and new treatments. This is your invitation to share with us all your special part of this evolving technology and treatments. Your contribution will ensure OHNNG’s objectives are met.

It is our objective that you all return to your work environments with extended knowledge, something for you to try or research, many new friends found and old friends reacquainted.

May this Meeting meet all your expectations

An added bonus to this meeting is that OHNNG is in its third year as an Authorised Provider of Endorsed Courses (APEC) member organisation, of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA). What this means for you as a delegate is that endorsed RCNA Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) points can be allocated to this meeting. By attending all allocated sessions for this 3-day event you will accrue 21 CNE points.

As in previous Meetings, we not only continue to have the opportunity to share the surgical scientific sessions and to hear the invited International presentations and key note speakers, we have been given the opportunity to have these visiting specialist give us a dedicated lecture at our meeting. By sharing this Meeting we have unlimited access to the largest ENT medical trade expo, program and social events with our surgical colleagues, held in Australia.

I would like to encourage and welcome you to our beautiful city. Whatever your interests, there is something for you…within walking distance from the Convention Centre you will be able to view the only giant pandas in the southern hemisphere, visit one of the largest of all fresh produce markets, the Central Market, or walk through the Botanic Gardens which are among the most beautiful in Australia.

From the Convention Centre you can jump on one of Australia’s oldest tramlines and head to the beach to cruise on a catamaran to see our dolphins or just sip wine and watch the sunset over the water.

For those wanting a little more adventure or to extend their stay, travel a little further and experience hot air ballooning over the Barossa Valley or the Flinders Ranges, shark dive at Port Lincoln or just take in Kangaroo Island’s heritage and natural beauty.

Not to mention our fine wines or gourmet food….Adelaide has something for everyone…come and see for yourself…
